Washington/Prishtina, 06 January 2023, dtt-net.com – In October 2022, USA special envoy for Western Balkans and the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Gabriel Escobar, hinted that Washington is not pushing for a deal right now for mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia but a temporary one without it, same as Ambassador to Prishtina Jeff Hovenier this week.
But Counsellor of State Department, Derek Chollet, said today that an eventual agreement between the two sides should be based on mutual recognition, despite the fact that the EU proposal for a deal, which the USA government supports, doesn’t include mutual recognition.
