Albania main opposition party to stage massive anti-PM protest

Tirana, 14 December 2025, dtt-net.com – Albanian main opposition party called its supporters and citizens for a “national” protest against the government of the Prime Minister Edi Rama for later this month, on top of ongoing weekly protests organized on Mondays. The former prime minister and leader of the Democratic Party (PD) Sali Berisha called for December 22 protest, seeking a technical government and early elections as it accuses Rama and his Socialist Party (PS) of election fraud on May 11 elections, corruption and links to organized crime.

“On December 22, national protest. Our agenda is clear: Technical government and free elections!,” Berisha said through X.

For four weeks now, the PD is organizing protests on Monday in front of Rama’s office mounting the pressure after the special prosecution against corruption and organized crime indicted deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku of wrongdoings related to a public procurement of a motorway tunnel in 2020 and retendered for 50 million Euros higher in 2021.

Balluku is also indicted over a public tender over motorway ring of capital Tirana and is being investigated over tender related to a project of water supply and wastewater project in coastal town of Durres.
