Bosnia public broadcaster suspends broadcasting as warning amid financial problems

Sarajevo, 26 February 2026, dtt-net.com – The public broadcaster of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) BHRT TV today is not broadcasting, thus sending an alarm to the authorities amid accumulated financial problems originating from the refusal of Serb entity broadcasting service RTRS to transfer collected fees to its account since 2017. The Acting Director General of BHRT, Belmin Karamehmedović, today said that because of the debt of 104 million KM (52 million euros) to BHRT by RTRS, country’s public broadcaster is not able to pay its debt of 22 million KM (11 million Euros) to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) the deadline of which expires today.
