Brussels, 11 December 2025, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) today rebuffed a call by the President of Serbia to the European bloc for membership of all Western Balkans countries at the same and all together, reiterating that each country will enter the EU separately when they are ready with Brussels-set reforms.
“Accession is a merit-based process. Each candidate should join when they are ready, when they meet the conditions and criteria laid down in the EU Treaties, including the Copenhagen criteria. There are no pre-determined timelines. The accession process is driven by delivering on reforms and showing sustainability of results,” the EC spokesperson Guillaume Mercier told dtt-net.com when asked for an answer to Aleksandar Vucic’s call made two days ago.
