European Green party calls leaders of EU institutions to break silence on authoritarian President of Serbia and review funding (updated)

Brussels, 09 September 2025, dtt-net.com – Members of the European Green Party (EGP) and of European Parliament have called in a public letter leaders of three EU institutions in Brussels to break the silence, and speak up toward the “authoritarian rhetoric, intimidation, and disinformation” by Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic and the violence on protesting students by state police he controls.

“The European Union cannot remain silent in the face of authoritarian rhetoric, intimidation, and disinformation. We kindly urge you to defend European values, show support for the citizens of Serbia, and convey that such threats are unacceptable,” five members of the EGP wrote to the President of the European Commission, European Council and European Parliament.

The European Green party also called the EU to review the funding to Serbia because of authoritarian President.
