Belgrade, 13 August 2025, dtt-net.com – Dozens of protesters and policemen are reported injured during last night clashes in Serbia town of Vrbas, as tensions between students and government controlled by authoritarian President continue escalating.
Police authorities say 16 police officers are injured, while the number of anti-government and pro-government protesters, according to some reports is four times higher.
More protests are announced by students for tonight in other towns too, as tensions between the two sides are worsening awaiting President Aleksandar Vucic to call early parliamentary elections which will see students run with their own list of candidates.
Clashes continued between students and supporters of Vucic today in northern town of Novi Sad and capital Belgrade.
Videos show Vucic supporters launching first firecrackers on students, while police staying in between and not intervening. Other videos show his supporters equipped also with baseball batons and other hard objects ready to attack protesting students.
Several are injured in Novi Sad, including policemen, but the exact number still remains unknown.
