Serbia President’s ally in Montenegro seeks constitutional changes as condition to remain in government

Podgorica, 09 January 2026, dtt-net.com – A junior governing party in Montenegro today set four conditions to remain in the government, including of making Serb language official and changes to citizenship law. The Democratic People’s Party (DNP) of Milan Knezevic, a close ally of Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, at today’s meeting also called for making the old Serbia civil flag (red-blue-white) official in Montenegro and rejected plans of government for construction of a wastewater management plant on Zeta municipality which triggered protests and new crisis in the EU candidate country of the Western Balkans region.
