Brussels/Belgrade, 23 September 2025, dtt-net.com – Students of Serbia, who are for ten months now protesting against authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic and his ruling SNS party, today are officially presented amidst eight nominees for European Parliament’s Freedom Sakharov Prize of Freedom of Thought.
They are proposed by lawmakers of the Renew Europe Group in the EU’s legislative body, Irena Joveva. and Helmut Branstatter, for their ongoing protests for democracy and against corruption, triggered after November 1 collapse of train station canopy in northern town of Novi Sad which killed 16 people, including a student.
