Serbian President wants leader of Bosnia Serbs to run for top post in Serbia and he to become PM, opposition lawmaker says

Belgrade, 19 August 2025, dtt-net.com – The authoritarian President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, whose mandate expires in 2027, is preparing the leader of Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Milorad Dodik, to run for Serbia President post, and himself become prime minister, according to a Serbian opposition lawmaker.

“These days he is seriously making arrangement and thinking about Dodik being a candidate for the president of Serbia, since Vucic can no longer do so. Vucic wants to be the prime minister of Serbia. He wants to return to the position of prime minister and is preparing Mile Dodik, who as you know now cannot be the president of the Republic of Srpska, for Mile Dodik, to be the president of Serbia, since he has Serbian citizenship,” the deputy-chairman Serbia’s Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), Borko Stefanović, told Nova TV today.
