UPDATE : Truck drivers of Bosnia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia halt strike over EU visa rule limitations as EC trying to find solution

Podgorica/Skopje, 30 January 2026, dtt-net.com – Truck drivers of the four countries in the Western Balkans region have halted blocking border crossing lanes with neighbouring EU countries and Albania and Kosovo, as the European Commission (EC) is launching talks with Western Balkans authorities first before tackling the matter with 27 governments of member states for a solution over their problems facing with EU visa rules on their daily work. The decision of truck drivers in Montenegro and North Macedonia yesterday, and of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia today to halt the strike, is taken after the European Commission (EC) yesterday announced it will enter talks with governments of 27 EU member countries aimed at extending the duration of 90 day stay in EU territory within 180 days period, as part of its new proposal for EU visa strategy for third countries.
