Washington/Brussels, 19 December 2025, dtt-net.com – The Congress of the USA in its ‘National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026’ - signed into law by the President Donald Trump yesterday – expressed support to the 2023 temporary agreement brokered by the EU between Kosovo and Serbia, and at the same time called for a final one to include mutual recognition between the two countries.
“It is the sense of Congress that-- (1) the Agreement on the Path to Normalization of Relations, which was agreed to by Kosovo and Serbia on February 27, 2023, with the facilitation of the European Union, is a positive step forward in advancing normalization between the two countries; (2) Serbia and Kosovo should seek to make immediate progress on the Implementation Annex to the agreement referred to in paragraph (1),” reads the text on Kosovo-Serbia relations pushed into the bill by Senators Thom Tillis and Jeanne Shaheen.
