25 members of Serbia’s Academy of Sciences and Arts call for resignation of authoritarian President (report)

Belgrade, 13 June 2025, dtt-net.com – 25 of total 135 members ( 36 corresponding and 99 full members) of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) have signed a petition calling for resignation of President Aleksandar Vucic, accusing him of “ruining the democratic, institutional and social foundations” of Serbia for “the sake of personal or party power,” according to a letter reported by the news website danas.rs.

“Guided by the highest interests of the people and the state, deeply concerned about the future of the Republic of Serbia, we hereby publicly demand the resignation of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, due to the ruining of the democratic, institutional and social foundations of our country,” reads the text of 25 named members of SANU, according to the news website.
