Podgorica, 31 August 2026, dtt-net.com – Montenegro authorities said three men are found dead today in Danilovgrad today, while an identified Russian suspect still on the run.
Local police said three men aged 20, 24 and 67, are found shot dead with firearm in the afternoon in a shooting club in Danilovgrad town.
Local police and prosecution have launched searches on the suspect, the Russian national Mihail NikolaevičŠabunin (30).
Police said through social media that the suspect in armed and urged citizens to be careful.
The Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, later in the evening said that his government will declare a two-day mourning over the killing of three.
Gun ownership is a common problem in the country.
In January 2025 a gunman killed thirteen people, including two children, wounded three others in Cetinje town, and then committed suicide.
According to a 2017 survey of gun ownership worldwide made by the Geneva-basedSmall Arms Survey, Montenegro, as well as Serbia, are in the fifth place with 39.10 weapons per 100 persons, after the United States (120.5) Falkland Islands (62.1) Yemen (52.8), New Caledonia (42.5) followed by Canada (34.7), Uruguay (34.7), Cyprus (34) and Finland (32.4) in the top ten countries worldwide.
Following the killing in Cetinje the government had launched massive raids in firearms confiscation and also an appeal of volountary hand over of guns.
