Geneva/Belgrade, 04 August 2025, dtt-net.com – Human rights experts of the United Nations today expressed “deep concern” over intensifying crackdown on students, professors, human rights defenders, civil society actors and citizens by authorities controlled by authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic, amid ongoing widespread daily protests since November triggered by collapse of train station canopy which killed 16 people, including a student.
“What we are witnessing in Serbia is a systematic attempt to silence critical voices and dismantle the independence of academic institutions,” the experts of world body said in a media statement.
