UN court refuses early release to Serb convicted of war crimes in Bosnia

The Hague, 14 August 2025, dtt-net.com – A UN court mechanism in The Hague today denied early release to a Serb convicted of war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) after serving two-third of sentence.

Judge Graciela Gatti Santana of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, denied application of Goran Jelisić, who is found guilty of 16 counts of violations of the laws or customs of war, comprising murder, cruel treatment and plunder, and 15 counts of crimes against humanity, comprising murder and other inhumane acts.44 In particular, Jelisić was convicted of personally committing 12 murders at the Brčko police station and the Luka camp in May 1992, as well as personally inflicting bodily harm on four persons.
