Sweden cuts financial support to Serbia authorities citing corruption, lack of rule of law

Belgrade, 03 November 2025, dtt-net.com – The government of Sweden today decided to halt financial aid to Serbia authorities and redirect it to country’s civil society, accusing the government of Serbia controlled by the authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic of corruption and lack of rule of law. Swedish Ministry of Development Assistance and Foreign Trade said in a press statement that the decision “means that part of the support to state authorities in Serbia will be discontinued and that support will be directed to a greater extent towards strengthening civil society.”
