1 Bosnia and 4 Serbia nationals amidst injured in tragic bar fire in Switzerland

02 January 2026, dtt-net.com – Of 119 injured in the bar fire in Crans-Montana which caused the death of 40 people on New Year’s Eve, 1 of injured is from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and 4 from Serbia, according to police authorities.

Frederic Gisler, commander of the Valais cantonal police said in a press conference that 113 of injured have been officially identified while authorities are still working on the identity of 6 others.

“Among the injured formally identified 71 are of Swiss nationality, 14 French, 11 Italians, 4 Serbs, 1 Bosnian, 1 Belgian, 1 Luxembourger, 1 Pole, and 1 Portuguese,” he said.

Gisler said that authorities continue working on identification of 40 deceased in the fire.

Prosecutor Beatrice Pilloud said that the deadly fire is caused likely by incandescent candles which have been placed on top of champaign bottles and too close of bar’s ceiling, while investigations are ongoing to confirm it.
