USA company representatives travel to Bosnia for LNG pipeline project from Croatia

Sarajevo, 12 January 2026, dtt-net.com – Representatives of a USA company are today in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) capital to discuss with country’s officials for construction and management of planned gas interconnector from Croatia to supply BiH with American LNG. “They are meeting with BiH leaders to discuss how American capital and resources can develop and operate the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline. This project will deliver reliable U.S. liquefied natural gas to BiH, strengthening energy security for all residents,” the USA embassy said through X about the visit of AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC President Joseph Flynn and Vice President Jesse Binnall to Sarajevo today.

USA diplomats have clinched an agreement between local officials for construction and management of interconnector in Bosniak-Croat entity for a 30-year period after years of dispute between Bosniaks and Croats.

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) had insisted for formation of a new public company in the entity to manage the pipeline and bypass the existing one, the BH-Gas, respectively.

Following the compromise, the law adopted by the House of Representatives of the entity in 2021 over the pipeline will have to be adapted for the concession to USA company.

The project will diminish BiH’s dependence from Russian gas, which enters from the stretch from Serbia through TurkStream owned in majority by Gazprom, and which reaches the country from Black Sea through Türkiye and Bulgaria.

BiH and Croatia will have to enter into an agreement for the project which will supply the entity with American LNG from Croatian Terminal in Krk.
