Protests resume in Montenegro municipality over wastewater management plant as tensions with government loom

Podgorica, 13 January 2026, dtt-net.com – Dozens of inhabitants of a village near Montenegro’s capital of Podgorica today resumed road blockades against a wastewater management plant project which is becoming political as Serb governing parties have expanded their demands seeking constitutional and law changes for more rights for Serbs in the EU candidate country. Inhabitants of Botun village of Zeta municipality led by the leader of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP) Milan Knezevic and Zeta’s Mayor Mihailo Asanović of the same party today blocked two roads thus resuming protests against planned construction of plant by the government.
