EU Commission tight lipped over Serbia’s President claims of plans for early accession for Ukraine in European bloc as part of peace talks with Russia

Brussels, 26 January 2026, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) today refused to comment on yesterday claims of President of Serbia that part of ongoing negotiations for a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, which also include international community includes plans for allowing Ukraine to become member of the EU in January 2027, provided that a peace deal is reached. A spokesperson of the EC today refused to answer when asked by dtt-net.com about Aleksandar Vucic’s claims, who yesterday said that according to what he has heard if a peace deal is reached, then Ukraine would become EU member from 1 January 2027, thus of what he said would be “contrary” to existing procedures and rules of EU enlargement.
