Bosnia lawmaker calls prosecutor’s office to investigate over Serbia President’s alleged involvement in war crimes as Croatian journalist publishes more documents

Sarajevo, 27 January 2026, dtt-net.com – A Bosniak member of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Parliament called country’s prosecutor’s office to launch investigation of alleged participation of Serbia’s President in organizing for foreigners  so called “Sarajevo Safari” for killings of around 10000 Bosniak civilians in exchange of money during the 1992-1999 war in the country.

The member of House of Representatives from the Forward BiH party, Šemsudin Mehmedović, made the call Sunday after the Croatian journalist Domoagoj Margetic published a signed document which says that the late chief of Serb entity army unit of Chetnicks, Slavko Aleksic, had received 20000 Deutch Marks (10 000 Euros of today) from now President Aleskandar Vucic which the latter had received as “donation” by an italian of Ro.R. initials to the unit.

The document looks signed by Aleksic himself.

“On 19 11 1993 year I received from Aleksandar Vucic, the volounteer of this unit in charge of foreign visitors twenty thousands german marks (20 0000 DEM) which are donated to the unit by Ro…(edited) R..(edited); visitor from Italy during the visit at         Jewish cemectry and Grbavica,” reads the letter.

The killings of civilians in Sarajevo happed by snipers from the cemetry at the hills of Sarajevo.

A week ago, investigative journalist Margetic published at his Facebook account a document of September 1993 suggesting that Aleksandar Vucic participated in voluntary accompaniment of armed foreigners from Serbian capital Belgrade to the hills of Bosnian capital for “’Safari Sarajevo’ in killing with snipers Sarajevo civilians.

“On September 17, 1993, Slavko Aleksić signed an order ordering units under the control of the Central Homeland Administration of the SRS (Serb Radical Party) to ensure the unhindered movement of Aleksandar Vučić, a volunteer accompanying foreign guests of the Novo Sarajevo Chetnik Detachment. The order was given to me by Aleksić’s co-fighters. The order is one of the key documents proving Aleksandar Vučić’s participation in human safaris in wartime Sarajevo,” Margetic wrote, publishing the document signed by Aleksić.

Aleksić was commander of the voluntary paramilitary Serb unit in 1992 and 1993 which organized the killings and also was member of SRS party led by Vojislav Seselj who is sentenced of war crimes by UN court. Vucic at that time was also member of SRS.

According to the document published last week, Aleksić orders free passage for Vucic and foreigners from Belgrade to the “Jewish Cemetery” on the hills surrounding capital Sarajevo.

In November last year Domagoj Margetic said through Facebook account that he filed a criminal complaint at Milan/Italy prosecutor’s office against Vucic over his alleged involvement in “Sarajevo Safari” case.

Margetic said he provided evidence in November of Vucic being present at the “Jewish Cemetery.”

Milan prosecutor’s office has opened criminal proceedings in early November after an investigation and legal complaint filed by the Italian writer Ezio Gavazzeni.

After quoting several statements of Aleksic and the then leader of Serbia Radical Party (SRS), Vojislav Seselj, of which Vucic was Secretary General during the Bosnia war, over Vucic’s presence at the area as member of Aleksic’s unit, from where civilians were being shot by Serb forces and European ‘Safari tourists’, Croatian journalist wrote in his filing to the Milan prosecutor that the now President of Serbia “was in a war position at the Jewish Cemetery in Sarajevo for several months in 1992 and 1993 as a war volunteer.”

“ALEKSANDAR VUČIĆ was UNDISPUTEDLY a member of a war unit that participated in the organization of human safaris in wartime Sarajevo and was located at the time of the human safaris at the place from which the human safaris in Sarajevo took place, that is, exactly at the war position from which tourists came to kill people for sport. It is impossible that Aleksandar Vučić did not know about human safaris at the time and place where he was,” he wrote then.

The journalist had said in November too that Vucic participated personally in organizing “Sarajevo Saffari” in killing of Sarajevo civilians, which followed with publishing documents boosting further his investigation on Vucic.

“There are serious indications that Aleksandar Vučić participated in human safaris personally, and that he participated in providing logistics and assisting foreign hunters in hunting people in wartime Sarajevo from his position at the Jewish Cemetery,” he wrote to the complaint filed to Milan prosecutor’s office.

Aleksić died suddenly on 18 December 2025, at the age of 69, under still unclear circumstances, just a month after the filings to the Milan prosecutor’s office. In late November he gave an interview to Informer TV claiming that Vucic had nothing to do with the sniping.

Around 10 000 civilians were killed by Serb forces during Sarajevo siege between 1992 and 1995.

Vucic has denied accusations of participating in the killings.

“I never killed anyone nor wounded anyone or anything similar,” Vucic had said in November reacting to Croatian journalist filing.

He has also told Belgrade-based Informer TV that he “never held a rifle “, nor had heard of “Sarajevo Safari.”

Vucic has also threatened to sue media which report relating him with the “Sarajevo Safari.”
