Belgrade/Brussels, 28 January 2026, dtt-net.com – The ruling Progressive Party (SNS) of Serbia, controlled by the authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic, today approved in the parliament changes to several laws on judiciary which are contested by the opposition and also EU officials.
Amidst changes to five laws, amendments to the Law on Public Prosecution, are aimed at cutting off competencies of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime and break its independence in the fight against organized crime, according to the opposition.
