Tirana, 15 February 2026, dtt-net.com – The Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama today announced law changes proposal by him and his ruling Socialist Party (PS) to ban suspension of government members by local courts, even when they are indicted by prosecutor’s office against corruption and organized crime as is the case of his Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku.
"There are some functions that include the minister, which are paralyzed if the minister is suspended. So in fact, if you say that I suspend a minister, I suspend the president of the republic, I suspend the head of the state's high audit, or others that cover non-delegable functions, it actually produces an immediate consequence equivalent to dismissal, because the person is not simply suspended, as can happen with a director whose job is done by someone else, but that the function is suspended,” Rama said in Facebook podcast.
