Germany’s Chancellor calls Kosovo PM for “further progress” in EU-mediated talks with Serbia focused on controversial autonomous body for Serb minority

Prishtina/Brussels, 19 February 2026, dtt-net.com – The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, called the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to make “further progress” in the negotiations with Serbia mediated by the EU, following 2023 agreement reached in Brussels which focuses on formation of controversial autonomous body for Serb minority for additional powers. Merz made the call to Kurti in a letter congratulating his re-election after December elections.
