Montenegro opposition calls for early elections

Podgorica, 26 March 2026, dtt-net.com – Montenegrin main opposition party today said early parliamentary elections should be called in the country, accusing the governing coalition of attempting to transform the country into a “police state”. The call for early elections was made by the leader of Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Zivkovic, as parties lawmakers have quit four positions in parliament’s committees, including the position Parliament’s Deputy-Speaker, in protest of two laws on internal affairs and security agency, which are also disapproved by the country’s President and the European Commission (EC).
