Serbia’s President rushes to establish ties with incoming Hungarian PM after defeat of his pro-Putin ally

Belgrade, 21 April 2026, dtt-net.com – Russia-friendly President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today said he had a phone conversation with incoming Prime Minister of Hungary Peter Magyar and invited him for a visit to Belgrade, following defeat of Vucic’s close ally and also pro-Russian Viktor Orban in 12 April elections. Vucic said he congratulated Magyar for his landslide election victory and discussed important energy projects he had agreed with Orban in previous years, which mainly relate to Russian crude oil and natural gas.
