Tensions erupt between Kosovo ruling and opposition parties as election campaign launched

Prishtina, 14 May 2026, dtt-net.com – A physical incident happened Thursday in Kosovo’s town of Skenderaj between members of an opposition party and of the ruling party of the Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as campaign of early parliamentary elections of June 7 has started. A member of Kurti’s Vetevendosje (LVV) party and recently appointed deputy-minister of Finances, was beaten in a bar by members of the opposition Democratic Party (PDK), with authorities sending special police forces following the incident in the town, which is unusual decision after such cases and which prompted street protest in late evening by dozens of PDK supporters.
