Albania opposition party launches boycott of parliament over luxury resorts plans by government

Tirana, 02 July 2026, dtt-net.com – The Democratic Party of Albania (PD), today announced boycott of parliamentary sessions, as the ruling Socialist Party (PS) of the Prime Minister Edi Rama refuses to tackle proposals for abolition of four laws which relate to the demands of protesters over construction plans by the government on coastal areas and protected areas. The PD said its boycott will continue until the PS includes in parliament’s agenda session debate on the legislative proposals it has forwarded a month ago on the draft-law on the abolition of amendments to the law on Protected Areas; draft-law on repeal of the law on Strategic Investments; draft-law on the abolition of the Mountain Package; and draft-law on the abolition of some provisions of the law on Cultural Heritage.
