Serbia’s President grateful to EU Commission President, leaders of Germany, France, and Italy for pushing to unlock entry talks

Belgrade/Brussels, 09 July 2026, dtt-net.com – Authoritarian President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, Wednesday particularly thanked the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, President of European Council, Antonio Costa, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French president Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, for attempts to unlock stalled EU accession negotiations with Serbia, who today failed however to convince a group of at least six other member countries to make the move for next week and ahead of early elections Vucic was so far planning to call for after summer.
