Belgrade, 28 July 2026, dtt-net.com – A total of 46 firefighters of Serbia departed today to Spain to help Spanish authorities extinguish wildfires.
Serbia’s Ministry of Interior said that the “superpuma H-215” helicopter with 5 crew members and 1 liaison officer, as well as a fire-rescue team with 37 firefighters-rescuers and 3 members of the medical support team, are departing as part of the international assistance provided by Serbia to Spain through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Serbia firefighters will be engaged in the area of Navalcarnero municipality near Madrid.
Spanish government has declared national emergency in total fourteen autonomous communities amid 211 areas hit by fires.
According to authorities, around 77000 hectares have been affected by the fires in Spain, with more than 50000 hectares in Avila area west-north of Madrid.
