Emergency situation declared in 3 northern Serbia municipalities amid drought

Belgrade, 29 July 2026, dtt-net.com – the government of Serbia’s northern region of Vojvodina today declared emergency situation in three municipalities amid historically low water level of the Danube River. Authorities said the measure for Sombor, Kula, and Vrbas municipalities is taken because “the historical minimum” of the Danube's water level of minus 127 centimetres recorded today, which it said represents a serious challenge for the functioning of the Danube-Tisa-Danube Hydrosystem, primarily for irrigation systems, agricultural production and other users.”
