Montenegro rejects Italy’s proposal for migrant return camp

Podgorica/Brussels, 04 August 2026, dtt-net.com – Montenegro today rejected in advance a potential proposal of Italian government reported today morning by Italian media for setting up a repatriation centre for illegal migrants from EU countries in the candidate country, ahead of informal online meeting of interior ministers of 27 member states, following the Ceuta migrant crisis. The Prime Minister, Milojko Spajic, wrote through X that if such a proposal of Georgia Meloni cabinet is made to his government, he will reject it, as according to Italian media reports, Montenegro is one of Western Balkans countries in potential list of Meloni’s government, alongside several African countries.
