Thousands, including officials, attend military and state funeral of war criminal in Serbia’s capital

Belgrade, 07 September 2026, dtt-net.com – Thousands of people today gathered in Serbia’s capital of Belgrade to pay tribute to the convicted war criminal known as the “Butcher of Bosnia”, Ratko Mladić, who died last month in The Hague serving lifetime sentence over Srebrenica Genocide. On Saturday a ceremony of tributes was held at House of Serbia’s army, with the Serbian government providing all logistical support from the coffin hand over in Netherlands to the funeral of today. The funeral was attended by the Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, the Minister of Justice Nenad Vujić, the Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and the Minister of Public Investments Darko Glišić. Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić skipped the funeral, but his son Danilo was there to pay tribute to the war criminal. The Russian ambassador in Belgrade, Aleksandar Bocan Harchenko was also there to pay tribute to the war criminal.
