Sarajevo, 11 September 2026, dtt-net.com – Two members of Serbia’s diplomatic staff at the embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) have already left Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) territory, according to BiH officials. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konakovic, told local media that a defence representative - military attaché and a representative of security and intelligence agency (BIA), whom he three days ago decided to expel from BiH have already left the country.
“”We received information from the border crossings from the Border Police that the Serbian military attaché Milan Dulanović left BiH yesterday at 12:05 pm, in accordance with the deadline we gave him, which was around 2:00 pm. It has been confirmed that BIA advisor Danko Maksimović left BiH earlier, his mandate did not end until our decision to declare him undesirable, and he left BiH on September 1. Therefore, the MFA’s decision has been fully respected, and those two positions at the Serbian Embassy have remained vacant and we have no intention of filling them until further notice,” Konakovic told news website raport.ba.
The minister took the decision in protest to Serbia state-sponsored funeral to the former commander of Serb entity forces and convicted war criminal over Srebrenica Genocide, Ratko Mladić.
Konakovic has also decided to withdraw all staff of BiH embassy and consulate from Belgrade, exemption ambassador which he says is not in his portfolio but of the three-member presidency.
As the third measure of protest, the minister has also decided not sign a joint declaration with Serbia and other Western Balkans countries prepared for an upcoming regional meeting in Montenegro.
Konakovic yesterday in a letter has called EU institutions to impose “targeted sanctions” on Serbia officials and institutions over glorification of convicted war criminals, and ongoing denial of Srebrenica Genocide.
