Albania court suspends deputy PM from post, confiscates passport amid indictment

Tirana, 20 November 2025, dtt-net.com – Albanian Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) today decided to suspend from the post the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, who is the right-hand of the prime Minister Edi Rama, and banned her from leaving the country, amid indictment filed by the special prosecution related to alleged irregularities and corruption over a public procurement for construction of a motorway tunnel. Five former officials of the ministry and infrastructure agency are also indicted of “Violation of equality of participants in tenders or public auctions” over the ‘Llogara Tunnel’.
