Allies of Serbia’s President step up pressure on Montenegro PM for constitutional changes

Podgorica, 12 January 2026, dtt-net.com – The Speaker of Montenegro’s Parliament and leader of biggest Serb party in the country today express full support to the calls of a second Serb governing party for constitutional changes including of making Serb language official and changes to citizenship law. The leader of New Serb Democracy (NSD), Andrija Mandic, told public broadcaster RTCG that his party supports the demands of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP) leader Milan Knezevic, who has also called for making the old Serbia civil flag (red-blue-white) official in Montenegro and rejected plans of government for construction of a wastewater management plant on Zeta municipality which triggered protests and new crisis in the EU candidate country of the Western Balkans region.
