Clashes in Serbia’s northern town as ruling party elects new mayor without presence of opposition members

Belgrade/Novi Sad, 24 February 2025, dtt-net.com – Protesters and opposition members clashed today with police at the entrance of Novi Sad’s municipality building, as the ruling Progressive Party (SNS) controlled by President Aleksandar Vucic and its ally parties were electing town’s new mayor without presence of assembly’s opposition members, after resignation of the previous one following collapse of canopy at train station which killed fifteen people, including a student.
