Belgrade, 17 November 2024, dtt-net.com – One more person died today of injuries following the tragic accident of November 1 when an eave at the train station in northern town Novi Sad collapsed, rising the number of dead to 15.
Health authorities said that a 24-year-old woman could not survive the injuries despite efforts of local doctors. Two others injured are still being treated at the clinical centre in Novi Sad.
In related news, another protest was organized today in the town by student organizations, citizens, and opposition political parties, seeking more resignations of officials over the deadly accident and people responsible to face justice.
The Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Goran Vesić is the only one to have resigned so far.
Opposition and civic society organizations have called for resignation of the Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, Novi Sad mayor Milan Djuric.
The opposition is also calling for publication of all agreements related to the reconstruction of the railway station and immediate arrest of all those responsible.
The prosecution says it has interviewed around 70 people so far, but no detention nor charges are, however.
The list of demands by the opposition also includes urgent control of all infrastructure projects that are constructed in the past 10 years, to prevent similar accidents in the future.
Opposition lawmakers Friday filed to the parliament a no-confidence motion in the Prime Minister Milos Vucevic.
