Belgrade, 21 March 2025, dtt-net.com – One more person died today of injuries from the the tragic accident of November 1, when train station canopy in northern town of Novi Sad collapsed, rising the number of dead to 16.
The death of 19-year-old V.C. is announced by the Military Hospital in capital Belgrade, where the patient was being treated of wounds.
“Patient V.C. (born in 2006), who was seriously injured in a falling canopy in Novi Sad and who, after treatment at the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, was admitted to the Military Medical Academy on January 29, 2025, died on March 21, 2025 in this military medical institution,” it announced.
The hospital said “despite all treatment measures taken and the maximum dedication of the MMA staff, the patient succumbed to complex injuries and complications”.
The tragic accident has triggered daily widespread protests against the government controlled by the authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic seeking accountability.
The Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and his government resigned in late January amid pressure from the students. Students also are calling for resignation of Vucic.
Opposition parties are now calling for a transitory government for a nine-month period, which would tackle demands of students over train station tragic accident and also prepare the country for early parliamentary elections.
