Podgorica, 01 October 2026, dtt-net.com – Montenegro ruling and opposition parties should find common ground and solve their newly erupted disputes, and focus on the common aspirations and goal of concluding EU accession negotiations this year for the country to become full fledged member of the EU, was the core message of today of the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, in Montenegrin capital of Podgorica.
In a press conference with the Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, she said that the country needs a political stability in order to close remaining 15 negotiating chapters in ongoing EU accession talks, then to start negotiating accession treaty to reach the 2028 membership goal.
