Zagreb/Montenegro, 25 August 2026, dtt-net.com – Slovenian EU Commissioner in charge of enlargement of the European bloc, asked today Croatia authorities to settle multiple dispute the EU member state has with the neighbouring candidate Montenegro, to avoid delays and eventual blockade for accession of the latter which hopes to conclude accession negotiations later this year and become full fledged member of the EU in 2028.
In a speech at a conference held in Zagreb with Ambassadors, Consuls General, Consuls and Military Attachés Marta Kos, took the example of 9-month of standstill in Croatia’s accession negotiations amid maritime border dispute with Slovenia, and asked Croatia authorities to engage with Montenegro in solving ongoing disputes, including on maritime border, with the neighbouring country, which is frontrunner in accession negotiations to become the next 28th member of the EU.
