Luxembourg/Tirana, 01 August 2025, dtt-net.com – The Luxembourg-based Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) today ruled against Italy’s camps built in Albania for asylum seekers, citing contested “safe origin” countries rule used by Italian government, thus backing rulings of Italian courts.
The verdict follows complaint of Italian courts to the EU court over the case of two Bangladeshi nationals who challenged Italian government’s refusal of their asylum applications, and who are disembarked to the camp in Albania under the November 2023 deal between the two governments.
