EU transfers first tranche of money to Serbia from new W. Balkans fund, Kosovo on hold amid failure to constitute new parliament

Belgrade/Brussels, 20 June 2025, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) said it made today first payment to Serbia in form of loans as part of bloc’s new fund for Western Balkans, following payments to Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia, while payments to Kosovo are awaiting formation of new parliament which needs to ratify loans and related agreements, and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) government failing to agree on needed reform agenda for benefiting from the Growth Plan fund.

“Today, the European Commission transferred EUR 51,7 million in concessional loans to the national budget of Serbia, corresponding to part of the pre-financing foreseen under the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans,” the EC announced in a press release.
