Prishtina, 26 August 2025, dtt-net.com – Kosovo lawmakers today elected new Speaker of Parliament, thus ending nearly 4 months of deadlock over nominees from the winner party of February elections.
Lawmaker Dimal Basha of the Vetevendosje (LVV) party of the caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti got 73 votes for the post in the 120-seat legislative body.
But the parliament could not terminate its constitutive session today because of entering into a second deadlock, this time over Serb MP nominees for deputy-Speaker post.
1 MP of Serbia-backed Serb List party did not sufficient votes. 2 others from the same party also were not elected after being nominated through draw, while another one refused draw nomination. A 5th one of an opponent party to Serb List and ally of caretaker PM failed too to get 61 votes…
The session is interrupted and will resume in two days…
