Serbia opposition lawmakers propose draft-law for permanent ban of lithium mining

Belgrade, 10 September 2024, dtt-net.com – 86 opposition members of Serbia Parliament today handed over a draft-law calling for permanent ban of lithium mining in the country, citing environmental and ecological concerns related to the project in western municipality of Loznica, while the EU automotive industry supported by their governments and the Serbian leadership are pushing hard for the project to happen despite protests since July in more than 50 towns and municipalities in the candidate country from the Western Balkans.
