Serbia to set aside 1.4 billion Euros for takeover of majority shares of Russian companies in oil refinery

Belgrade, 28 November 2025, dtt-net.com – The government of Serbia is setting aside around 1.4 billion Euros for next year budget aimed at purchasing 56,15 percent of shares of Russian companies in the NIS oil refinery, as the last option if ongoing talks of Russians with third companies fail in order the company can be removed from USA sanctions list. The Parliamentary committee for finances, budget and public expenses yesterday adopted an amendment to the draft-law budget for 2026 for additional 164,6 million denars (around 1,4 billion Euros) on the proposal of the ruling Progressive Party (SNS) agreed by the government already as reserve option for takover of Russian shares.
