Belgrade/Sarajevo, 22 July 2023, dtt-net.com – Powerful storm has hit Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia since yesterday, with authorities reporting material and infrastructure damages and one fatality in Serbia, while the storm continues today as well.
The storm with heavy rain, wind and thunder has hit yesterday mainly northern areas in BiH, including municipalities of Sanski Most, Novi Grad, Prijedor, Banjaluka, Lakstasi, Srbac and Vukosavlje. In some areas the storm was associated with hail.
The storm broke trees interrupting local traffic in several areas, but also causing electricity outages.
The storm last night reached Serbia and hit towns of Backa Palanka, Novi Sad, Sremska Mitrovica in north-west of the country, but also Nis town today in central-southern Serbia.
The Interior Ministry said emergency teams rescued total 31 people last night, while seven are reported injured and one dead in northern areas.
Emergency teams today are continuing with remediation of the consequences and the removal of fallen trees.
In Nis town several streets were flooded following the storm associated with heavy rainfalls and hail.
