Brussels, 17 September 2025, dtt-net.com – The European Commission (EC) said Russia accusations of the EU wanting to topple authoritarian President Aleksandar Vucic through protests of students “are just not true”, and qualified accusations from Moscow as “spread of disinformation”.
“The allegations that the EU or Member States are fuelling the protests are just not true. This is another attempt from Russia to spread disinformation and hostile political rhetoric against the EU, its Member States and candidate countries,” EC spokesperson Guillaume Mercier said in an email response, after Russian Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) two days ago claimed that the European bloc and its member states are behind protests of Serbia students with the aim of toppling from power Russia-friendly authoritarian leader of the EU candidate country.
