North Macedonia’s opposition party calls for criminal charges on minister amid Albanian language dispute

Skopje, 11 February 2026, dtt-net.com – An opposition party of ethnic Albanians in North Macedonia today called on the prosecutor’s office to file criminal charges against Macedonian minister of justice amid refusal to allow Albanian students pass bar exam in native language. The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) today said that the Minister of Justice Igor Filkov of junior ruling party ZNAM is breaching the law on languages as and as such he should be charged by the prosecution of abuse of office and incitement to interethnic intolerance.
