New York/Belgrade, 24 February 2026, dtt-net.com – Of 5 Western Balkans countries members of the United Nations, Serbia today was the only one of the region to abstain from a Ukraine government-sponsored resolution at the United Nations General Assembly calling for lasting peace in Ukraine.
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Montenegro and North Macedonia voted in favour of the text calling for an “immediate, full and unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.”
107 countries voted in favour of the text, 12 against and 51 abstained, including the USA.
